If you’ve reached the point of exhaustion trying to keep up with answering the mountain of emails that threatens to bury you alive every single day, you’re ready to learn about autoresponders.

The bad news is that people expect prompt replies to their email inquiries. However, unless you can figure out how to work continual twenty-four hour shifts, or hire enough people to constantly monitor incoming emails (while they’re eating up your revenue), you have a problem!

The good news is an autoresponder is an inexpensive – or even free -method of quickly responding to emails. What these programs do is automatically respond to incoming emails as soon as they are received.

Emails are essential to your business for many different reasons. Most importantly, these invisible email voices give you their feedback about your website – for free! However, if you spend all your working hours answering these emails, how are you supposed to run your business?

The answer is simple: Read the rest of this entry »

I had written this article for www.CaribArena.com/Antigua in early September but it is very relevant, even as I still await a phone call from someone at a printing company to give me a quote and take my money!

(Didn’t get the whole story, you probably are not getting our weekly e-newsletters. When you get the free video series, you’ll automatically be registered to get our weekly tips and strategies. )

=============================

Last week I ventured into town to buy my son’s uniforms and other school supplies. That day was THE DAY…I was going to get everything done on that day. Well, that was my intention, anyway.

Of course, things didn’t go according to plan, because unknown to me…there are some stores in town that still close for lunch!

What?

I pushed the door of one store so hard, my arm nearly fell off!

But seriously though, I was not aware that this practice was still occurring. As I passed one business place, there were about 5 people outside (as the store owner was closing up) wanting to enter the store.

I figured that they didn’t want the money. I know I personally had planned to spend over $250-300 alone, so multiply that by conservatively 3 persons waiting, that’s about $1000.

I began to think that maybe they don’t want the money. What do you think?

I mentioned this to a friend of mine later that evening and she said that one business owner she knows had complained that if they stagger the lunch hours then some people return late from lunch and it becomes a problem.

Hmmm…

So here’s the thing. I see 2 problems here.

Let’s deal with the latter first. Read the rest of this entry »

WHAT ON EARTH IS CONTINUITY??

Do you remember the “book of the month” club? Or think of cable TV… Or this can relate even to those companies that auto-ship..you know that Proactiv Infomercial, don’t you?

These are examples of a continuity programmes.

What happens is that you purchase their products once and for a monthly fee they supply you with a set of products every month and they charge your credit card.

Continuity or a forced continuity program (the latter occurs when you AUTOMATICALLY are included in the monthly program unless you opt-out), is when you make a sale one-time and that one sale results in multiple charges over and over again.

Here are some examples I could think of quickly: Read the rest of this entry »

Caribbean small business owners! How important are testimonials and why you must use them in your marketing!

A testimonial from a satisfied customer is the best kind of advertising you can get. It is positive, it is honest, and it is free.

Testimonials also grant credibility to your business in a way that advertising simply cannot accomplish.

So why are testimonials important?

Testimonials are perceived by readers as being more valid than anything you could write about your business on your own. You have a stake in promoting your business in a positive way, but clients and outsiders do not have that same level of dependence on the business. Their words of praise, then, carry more weight and more meaning.

They are also a way to communicate key marketing messages in a non-advertising format. For instance, if your business stands behind its products you can collect testimonials that illustrate this point. Maybe you promptly replaced a defective product, or perhaps you went beyond what was necessary to help a client who was having trouble with one of your products – either of these situations could lead to a testimonial on this subject.

What makes a good testimonial?

One of the mistakes many business owners make is putting a large number of testimonials on their website that are repetitive, not specific, or that do not fit neatly with the image or branding of the business.

In general, the best testimonials have the following characteristics: Read the rest of this entry »
